The purpose of web site submission to the Internet search engines and directories is to increase your website?s global presence on the Internet, mostly on the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo!, DMOZ, Overture, AOL, LookSmart, Lycos, AltaVista, etc.
In addition, there are thousands of smaller secondary search engines, and it is beneficial to be listed on these engines as well in order to increase traffic to your site.
There are two ways to submit a site to search engines: automatic and manual. Please note that most major search engines use paid submission (usually a one-time annual fee, or bi-annual payment, or pay-per-click program, or a combination of the above), hence only manual submissions are accepted by those engines.
Automatic submission: you can submit to hundreds of search engines simultaneously, it is easy, fast, and does not require a lot of efforts, but has some big shortcomings. First, you have to purchase a special software that allows you to do an automatic submission and learn how to use it. Second, as our own experience indicates, there is no guarantee that your site will have actually been submitted, even though the software you used "says" it has. You just have to rely on the software you purchased, you do not have any control over the submission process, and you receive very few submission acceptance confirmations from the search engines you submitted to as a feedback.
Manual submission: this requires a huge amount of time and efforts because, initially you have to learn and understand how to submit to a particular search engine (all of them have different requirements for the submission process), and second, you have to fill in the submission form manually with the appropriate contents (again, each engine has its own submission requirements which means, for example, that a title for the web site you are submitting can sometimes be different for different search engines).
BMR Group can submit your site both automatically and manually but we strongly recommend that submission to at least 50-60 major search engines should be done manually.
Notes:
In case of paid submissions, the fees charged by search engines are additional charges that will be made under your authorization only.
